UMW - UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
The annual prayer and self denial offering will be received at the United Methodist Women Meeting on Tuesday February 3rd at 2:00 p.m. This year’s theme is “Creating Communities through Information Technology”. Technology sends information quickly and is also involved in many facets of education. The 2009 Call to Prayer and Self-Denial offerings will fund grassroots projects that support local communities with opportunities for computer literacy, information technology training, English-as-a-second-language classes, and career enhancement and job-seeking skills. Marginalized populations, such as the poor, the physically challenged and others – especially women, children and youth – will gain access to information technology with these offerings. Please use one of your Special Offering church envelopes to contribute, marking it Prayer & Self Denial.
STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE
What is a steward?
One definition states that a steward is a person who manages the affairs of a household or the estate forthe owner.
A Christian steward serves God. Out of love and gratitude for these gifts, knowing that it’s not how much we have but what we do with what we have that is important. “Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with what ever gift each of you has received.” (I Peter 4:10)
HIGHER EDUCATION COMMITTEE STACEY ROBERTSON
We are continuing to send notes and cards to our students and service members, but we need your help.
With each mailing we get a few cards returned because addresses have changed; please keep us updated on new addresses or students who have returned to school. If we have missed anyone, please let us know and
we will be happy to get the next mailing to them. The addresses for our service members are in the bulletin each week and some extra mail would be great. Please continue to pray for and with our students.
CAMP STEWARD CINDY LONG
Despite the wind chill and the snow on the ground, it is time to be thinking about summer and church camp. The brochures have arrived, loaded with fun activities for children, youth, and adults. You can select a focus camp such as sports, swimming, sailing, horse, drama or dance. If you would like to dabble in all aspects of camping, there is a sampler camp just for you. Camps are scheduled for those young enough to want to still have mommy or daddy at camp with you as well as those youth who want to get away from the family in order to meet new and old friends in a great setting.
Trinity Church has a long record of supporting any children or youth
who want to attend camp, so don’t let money be the issue that stops you
from attending camp. If you want to attend camp, we will see that you
receive some help in that area. If you are interested in helping children and youth from our church, please mark your envelope with that information.
Get your applications in early—some of the more popular camps fill up quickly. Remember--- attending camp is a great way to make friends, have new adventures, and get to know God in a very real and personal way.
ATTENTION FORMER CAMPERS---if you have any photos of you at camp, please consider lending them to me for a short time
